You Can Rely On PYE !

I’ve said it time and time again, PYE are responsible for designing and manufacturing the quirkiest coolest looking Radiograms in Australia.

Hand crafted in Sydney Australia in 1966 we introduce to you the PYE Veloster Console Stereophonic Radiogram. To be more specific PYE was situated in Marrickville, NSW.

We didn’t see a lot of Radiograms badged with PYE until the late 60’s as they were not as common as other leading manufacturers of the time. Which brings me to the feeling i get when I am blessed with a PYE to restore, butterfly’s in my stomach and a grin on my face. Why? Because they’re a magnificent build and always a touch of individuality.

Trademark for PYE, real wood veneer and silver finishings with the gorgeous wood turned legs on chrome feet. I shall say no more.

The team at @retraphonics have completed the usual restoration on the amplifier and turntable resulting in effortless vinyl playing opportunities.

All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced on the transistorised amplifier to ensure longevity. All pots and switches have been sonic cleaned with A-grade specialist products. In-cabin light bulbs replaced and a general once over of the entire board. Resulting in a very generous vintage tone, it’ll crank louder then you’ll ever need it to.

Hats off to the Magnavox Magnaflux full range speakers which are in this system, they are an Australian made 8” full range speaker system which sound beautiful.

Now for the main attraction…

The turntable. Featuring a BSR Stacking turntable, probably the nicest model to be seen in Radiograms of this era. The colour, the styling and the functionality is all on point across the board. They just don’t make them this way anymore. It has the ability to stack up to 8 of your vinyl at one time and play them one after the other without the assistance of human touch.

Completely disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up to factory specifications, in every way this turntable is back to how it was when it was made. Working flawlessly, with the addition of a brand new cartridge and stylus, it is ready for take off.

Can this radiogram play iPhone or Samsung? I’d love to play Spotify through it.

Play music the right way!

The legs unscrew for transport and it will comfortably fit in virtually every car, except for a smart car. I’ve never met someone who owns one of those lol.
