HMV Caprice Cherry
Up for sale is this beautifully restored 1968 HMV Caprice, finished in its striking original Cherry Red and one of the most recognisable Australian-made mid-century radiograms of its era.
This example has been fully restored by us at Retraphonics, with extensive work carried out to both the amplifier and original BSR automatic stacking turntable to ensure it is ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
The amplifier has been removed and thoroughly serviced, with ageing and out-of-spec components replaced where required. The controls and switches have been cleaned and serviced, connections checked and the complete amplifier tested to ensure reliable operation and excellent sound performance.
The original BSR automatic turntable has also undergone a complete mechanical service. Old hardened grease has been removed, the mechanism cleaned and correctly lubricated, the motor and drive system serviced and the automatic functions adjusted and tested. It will automatically stack and play multiple records, one of the great features of these original 1960s radiograms.
A new cartridge and stylus have also been installed.
The original Cherry Red cabinetry presents beautifully and has been carefully cleaned and brought back to life while retaining its original 1960s character. As you would expect from an original piece approaching 60 years old, there are some minor scratches and signs of age, but these form part of its genuine original finish and character.
Smartphone capability allows you to play Spotify, playlists and other audio through the original HMV amplifier and speakers, while still retaining the original turntable and functionality of the radiogram.
Fully restored and presented for sale by Retraphonics on the Gold Coast.
Australia-wide shipping available.
