PYE Transphonic TS-2 Radiogram
Here we have a 1963 PYE Transphonic TS2, a British built stereogram that brings together clever design and proper early stereo engineering.
Pye out of Cambridge were producing some of the most forward thinking home audio of the time, and the Transphonic range really shows that.
Clean lines, practical features and a layout that was made to be used daily, not just sit in the corner.
This particular TS2 has been fully gone through in house and brought back to its original working order, staying true to how these were designed to perform. No modern swaps or shortcuts, just careful restoration of the original components.
Fitted with a Garrard 8T6 turntable, one of the more reliable and well regarded changers of the era. The pull down stacking system allows multiple records to be loaded and played through automatically, exactly as intended.
Next to this, a neatly integrated pull down storage section keeps your records tucked away and within reach.
The cabinet itself is a standout. The proportions, the timber work and the way everything is concealed behind those drop down panels gives it a very clean mid century look when closed, and a highly functional setup when open.
An iPhone input can be added if you’d like to run your own music through it, done discreetly without affecting the originality of the unit.
A well resolved example of a British stereogram that still makes sense in a modern home, both visually and in how it’s used.
Gold Coast based, viewings by appointment.
Australia wide shipping available - east coast shipping same week .
