HMV Sheraton 1969

from A$2,950.00

The 1969 HMV Sheraton is a beautiful example of Australian-made radiogram design from the late 1960s, produced in Sydney by His Master’s Voice (HMV, EMI Australia).

Radiograms like the Sheraton were designed to be both an audio centrepiece and a furniture statement, blending elegant woodwork with musical functionality at a time when integrated home entertainment systems were a luxury.

This Sheraton has been fully restored by the team at Retraphonics, with every mechanical and electrical system inspected, cleaned, serviced, and returned to reliable performance while keeping its original character intact. The solid-state electronics were designed for durability, and careful servicing ensures dependable operation today.

At its heart is an English-made BSR fully automatic turntable. The mechanism has been completely overhauled — all moving parts cleaned and lubricated, the idler wheel resurfaced, and a new cartridge and needle installed for clean, precise playback. The one-touch play function spins records back to back with ease, making listening effortless.

The amplifier and tuner have also been meticulously restored, including deep cleaning of all controls and contacts. The built-in AM tuner delivers warm vintage broadcast tones — perfect for enjoying classic radio music, catching the odd horse race, or tuning in to 4CRB like they did back in the day. The tone controls allow you to tailor bass and treble to your taste, and the original wiring and components have been checked and renewed where needed to ensure safe, reliable use.

The cabinet is finished in rich walnut veneer, carefully preserved to showcase the natural wood grain and mid-century styling. Minor blemishes consistent with age have been sympathetically touched up, maintaining authenticity while presenting beautifully today.

This Sheraton houses two original 8-inch Magnavox full-range speakers made in Australia, known for their durability and warm, engaging sound. An adapter cable is included so you can stream from your phone or digital device through this classic system, combining modern convenience with vintage charm.

Gold Coast viewings are available by appointment, and interstate shipping can be easily arranged by us. Check our socials for videos to see this beauty in action.

This is more than furniture — it is a fully restored piece of Australian audio history, ready to be enjoyed, displayed, and appreciated for decades to come.
