Kriesler Stereo 6 - 1969
Here we have a 1969 Kriesler Multisonic Stereo 6 model 11-133, finished in a rich gloss walnut.
This particular example has been fully restored both internally and externally, staying true to its original design and components. No modern shortcuts, no replacement record players or cheap electronics. Everything has been rebuilt with authenticity in mind, exactly as these were intended to be experienced.
This restoration has been completed in house by us at Retraphonics on the Gold Coast. You can view and hear this exact unit in action via our Instagram.
Kriesler’s Multisonic range represents a strong period in Australian manufacturing, with these units produced in Sydney during a time when build quality and materials were taken seriously. The Stereo 6 was manufactured across a number of years with minor revisions, and this 1969 example sits right at the end of the valve era before the transition into solid state designs.
The cabinetry is a standout. Finished in a deep gloss walnut, the grain presents beautifully across the front, with each section of veneer showing its own natural variation. The vertical timber slats remain intact, which is becoming increasingly rare, and give the piece a strong visual identity that sets it apart from later designs.
Internally, this is the six valve version of the Stereo 6, complete with valve rectification. These sets are known for their robust construction and dependable performance once properly restored. The amplifier has been fully rebuilt, with all capacitors replaced using quality components, power supply resistors renewed where required, and all controls carefully cleaned and serviced. The result is a stable, reliable system that performs exactly as it should.
The Garrard stacking turntable has also been completely restored. It has been disassembled, cleaned, re-lubricated and calibrated to ensure smooth and consistent operation. This unit is capable of stacking and automatically playing multiple records in sequence, delivering hours of uninterrupted listening. A new cartridge and stylus have been fitted, allowing it to track modern and vintage vinyl with precision and clarity.
The AM radio is fully operational and offers strong reception, adding another layer of usability to the system.
In terms of sound, this is where the Stereo 6 really shines. The valve amplifier paired with the original speaker configuration produces a warm, full and detailed sound that suits vinyl perfectly. It is an effortless listening experience that modern systems often struggle to replicate.
An iPhone or USB C connection can be added for those wanting to integrate modern playback, available at additional cost.
This unit presents in excellent condition and has been photographed as it is, without filters or enhancement, so you can see an accurate representation of its finish and overall presence.
We offer Australia wide shipping and can assist with organising safe transport. Local inspections are welcome by appointment on the Gold Coast.
If you have a radiogram of your own that you would like restored, feel free to reach out with a photo and we can guide you through the process.
Measurements are 1070mm wide, 700mm high and 410mm deep.
