1970's Vintage Walnut Stereo System
Here we have hand picked a very dreamy 1970’s Vintage Stereo System for one lucky buyer.
We carefully sourced each component with aesthetics and functionality at the forefront.
Nothing screams 70’s more than dark walnut veneer and silky smooth brushed aluminium complimented with shiny lights and warm vintage sound to boot.
All 3 components have been repaired and serviced to ensure optimum sound and endless amounts of playback for years to come
Dual 1214 turntable with matching Dual CS14 plinth and hingeless lid made in Germany, Dual’s are a collectors favourite and an iconic turntable in the history books. Known for their robust construction including heavy platter and idler driven design. Fully automatic, all mechanical components cleaned and re greased. Steurerpimpel replaced, Brand new Audio Technica AT3600L cartridge and stylus. Silent operation and great performer all round
Next up is a Compax CE-5000A Receiver, this one took a long time to track down, we had our vision for exactly which style of amplifier we wanted for this system and this little gem ticked all the boxes. Made in Japan in the early 70’s (hence the AM only offer) its super sleek, very simple and has a lovely vintage sound to it. In theory its a pretty close Sansui clone with identical amp layout to Sansui models of the late 60’s to early 70’s. Serviced, new light bulbs, all switches and pots cleaned and lubricated, faulty components replaced. Sounding fantastic. We have also upgraded the system to smartphone compatibility for versatility.
Rounding it off we chose the Coral 3-way speaker system from the early 70’s and don’t they just look the part! These were part of a D.I.Y speaker kit available from Hi-Fi magazines, you would mail order these from Japan and all components would be sent to you with the templates and necessary pieces of information to assemble them yourself. Main reason we went with the Coral’s was because of their real wood veneer cabinets which is uncommon in Japanese speakers from this era as they were mostly fake wood. The speaker covers are certainly groovy too (please note the covers do not come off) fantastic Japanese quality from this era which lets them simply speak for themselves in regards to reliability and sound quality. A genuine Chef’s kiss.
In comparison to off the shelf stereo systems available at retailers today this system is a no brainer, the looks, the sound, the vibes. You just can’t buy that in todays Chinese offerings.
Slight age related scuffs to the turntable dust cover
Aussie wide shipping available, inspections welcome on the Gold Coast.
